SOUTHEAST Aboriginal Arts Market 2022

After two near sell-out online editions, SOUTHEAST Aboriginal Arts Market returns to Carriageworks as an in-person market, held on Gadigal Land from 19-20 Nov. Curated by Hetti Perkins (Arrernte/Kalkadoon) and Jonathan Jones (Wiradjuri/Kamilaroi) SOUTHEAST celebrates the rich cultural inheritance and contemporary artistic expression of Aboriginal artists and practitioners of the southeast region of Australia.

This year, the market brings together 32 independent Aboriginal artists, with hundreds of artworks for sale across ceramics, jewellery, weaving, carving, textiles, painting and prints.

100% of proceeds go directly to the artists.

Weaving Circle
Discover traditional weaving with Burramattagal and Dharug artists and community members, Aunty Julie and Jayne Christian. Using hand-dyed raffia from Ngiyampaa and Guringai artist Tarni Eastwood via Nula Weaving, attendees will have the opportunity to learn the traditional First Nations weaving techniques from the south-east of Australia.

Please note, online registrations for the weaving circle close at 9am on each day.

Visit the Warakirri by Indigiearth pop-up, an 100% Aboriginal owned cafe located in Mudgee that celebrates modern Australian Native Cuisine.

Warakirri by Indigiearth will be serving up dishes made using native ingredients including damper with native jam and wattleseed cream, kangaroo sliders, lemon myrtle squid with finger lime pearls and green ants, bush tomato, pumpkin and fetta quiche and crocodile salad.

Carriageworks has also partnered with Dhuwa, Australia’s Indigenous-owned coffee brand to serve coffee.
