In 2022, Carriageworks will undergo significant refurbishment works to the precinct that will enhance the experience of artists, performers, event partners and visitors as well as protect the unique heritage of the site into the future, therefore the Carriageworks building will be closed to the public from 1 Feb – 29 Apr 2022. The Carriageworks Farmers Market will continue to operate each Saturday.

The project will be undertaken by Create Infrastructure and Public Works NSW and will include improving our technology with sustainable lighting systems, new theatre floors as well as upgrading the fabric of the building.

Covid-Safe Plan

Carriageworks is a COVID safe business and the health and safety of our visitors, producers, contractors and staff is our top priority. Therefore, the following safety requirements will be in effect until 31 Jan 2022. We look forward to welcoming audiences to Carriageworks and will continue to do all that we can to ensure the wellbeing of everyone on site.

If you feel unwell
Please do not visit if have experienced cold or flu like symptoms in the past 7 days, are isolating as a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case or are awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test. Stay home and take care.

Proof of vaccination
All visitors aged 16 and over are required to show proof of their full vaccination status or medical exemption upon entry to the building.

Masks are mandatory
We maintain the requirement for visitors to wear masks within all indoor venues, including throughout the duration of all performances. We strongly encourage that masks continue to be worn at our outdoor venues including the Carriageworks Farmers Market. Please bring your own mask.

Register at entry
We require visitors to check into Carriageworks utilising QR codes at entry. Please speak to a staff member if you need assistance.

Good hand hygiene
Please use hand sanitiser provided at entry and throughout the site.

Physical distancing
Please practise physical distancing at all times. Avoid congregating in public areas, queue wherever indicated and always follow instructions from staff.

Attending a performance
On arrival, download your eTicket and have it ready on your mobile phone for scanning. If you do not have access to email, our box office team will assist you, but please keep interactions to a minimum. The box office will open 30-minutes before each event.

Carriageworks Farmers Market
Masks are still strongly recommended. If you feel in any way unwell, even with a cold or mild illness, please do not visit the market.

Cloak room
The cloak room will be open during regular opening hours with strictly limited capacity.

Food and drink
Please note we are prohibited from providing water stations or disposable cups. Food or drinks will not be permitted inside the Sydney Festival venues.

Cashless payments only
Please bring a credit or debit card for any onsite purchases, as we accept cashless payments only.

Enhanced daily cleaning
We have implemented enhanced cleaning procedures across the precinct. This includes regular cleaning of high-touch surfaces throughout the day. Please be mindful of high traffic areas and keep touching to a minimum.

Getting here

Carriageworks is easily accessible by train. Walk eight minutes from Redfern Station, ten minutes from Macdonaldtown Station or 15 minutes from Newtown Station.

Bus routes 422, 423, 426, 428, 370, 352 stop on City Road at Codrington Street, a five minute walk from Carriageworks.

There are bike lanes on nearby streets and bike racks within the Carriageworks precinct.

Limited on-site parking is available at the end of Carriageworks Way. Enter via 229 Wilson Street. We encourage taking public transport when possible.

The loading dock roller door is located at the far side of the Carriageworks car park. Press the buzzer when you arrive.

Accessible seating
To book accessible seats, please call Carriageworks on +61 2 8571 9100 Wed-Sun 10am-5pm. Up to two accompanying patrons can buy tickets in the accessible seating area.

Companion cards
People who hold a valid Companion Card will be issued a complimentary ticket when they support a ticketholder with a disability or frailty. To reserve tickets please call Carriageworks on +61 2 8571 9100 Wed-Sun 10am-5pm. You may be asked to present your Companion Card at the event. Please note: other presenting companies may not always permit companion cards.

Carriageworks is wheelchair accessible. If you need a wheelchair, please see our staff at the visitor services desk on arrival or call +61 2 8571 9099 to arrange prior to your visit.

Site access
An access ramp leading to the main entrance is located at street level at 245 Wilson Street.

Accessible parking is available at the end of Carriageworks Way. Enter via 229 Wilson Street.

Taxis can enter at 229 Wilson Street for level access entry.

The closest train station with wheelchair access is Newtown Station.

Facilities and services
The Carriageworks car park includes four mobility parking spaces.

Accessible toilets are located off the public space within the main building.

Service animals are welcome throughout the precinct.

Carriageworks does not have a hearing loop.
