Clothing Store Artist: Liz Day Photos

“My current research at Carriageworks brackets ten mainly site-based projects that have existed in or are about marginal, and neglected spaces.

I also use unravelled opportunity shop garments that are performative paintings and more recently turning into sculptural objects that reference specific colonial carceral architectures. As a material these garments carry memories, DNA scents of their previous lives. They tell specific stories, and their unravelling carries an ethos of care.

Having a large studio at in the Clothing Store has enabled my work to expand spatially and sculpturally.”
