Sydney Writers’ Festival returns to Carriageworks in 2020, bringing together an international line-up to address this year’s theme, ‘Almost Midnight’. The program includes the winner of the 2019 Booker Prize, Bernardine Evaristo; Nobel Peace Prize–nominated founder of the Umbrella Movement, Joshua Wong; award-winning author Bruce Pascoe; The New York Times bestselling non-fiction writer of Three Women, Lisa Taddeo; actress Yael Stone; and acclaimed writer Siri Histvedt.

Drawn from the metaphor of the Doomsday Clock, currently set just 100 seconds from global catastrophe – the closest to ‘midnight’ it’s ever been – Festival guests will consider this year’s theme and how it relates to change, potential and renewal, over one stimulating week of storytelling, ideas and conversation.
