In 1971, a small group of passionate and talented activists came together and formed The National Black Theatre which became a focal point for activism until it closed in 1977. Darlene Johnson’s 2014 documentary, The Redfern Story follows the efforts made through activism and theatre to bring the cause of First Nations peoples to public notice, as a first step towards gaining land rights and better treatment. Join us for a screening of the documentary on Thu 6 Oct followed by a panel discussion featuring Aunty Bronwyn Penrith (Director of the Redfern Foundation Ltd) and her daughter actor Angeline Penrith in conversation with Carriageworks Director, First Nations Programs Jacob Boehme.
