Mike Parr is regarded as one of the most important living Australian contemporary artists. In October 2019, Mike Parr will stage The Eternal Opening at Carriageworks: one gallery exhibited inside another. In a re-construction of Parr’s minimalist performance LEFT FIELD [for Robert Hunter] (2017), the artist methodically climbs up and down a ladder, painting-out the gallery wall white as the ‘space’ becomes the art object. Parr’s performance seeks to reduce the gallery to an empty field that can be imaged as boundless.

We are seeking 10 people to contribute $5,000 each towards the installation of The Eternal Opening at Carriageworks. As a member of this donor circle, you will join a likeminded group of philanthropists with a shared passion for commissioning new contemporary art in Australia.
