JUGGLING ZEBRAS, SOMERSAULTING KANGAROOS AND RHYTHMIC ELEPHANTS: CARRIAGEWORKS PRESENTS CIRCA’S CARNIVAL OF THE ANIMALS THIS SCHOOL HOLIDAYS 29 Aug 2024
Sydney, Australia: Prepare to be whisked away on a thrilling circus escapade as Carriageworks presents Circa’s Carnival of the Animals during the spring school holidays from 1-5 October.
The Circa Carnival comes to town with whimsical tales of creatures of land and sea, who tumble, fly, leap and spin their way through the many wondrous worlds of the animal kingdom. These zebras juggle and flip. These kangaroos skip and somersault. The elephants have rhythm, and the dinosaur bones shake, clatter and roll to the music.
Inspired by French composer Camille Saint-Saëns delightful salute to feathers, fur and fins, Carnival of the Animals brings this classical music suite to life for a whole new generation of circus, music and animal lovers. Children ages three and up will be wowed by performances of extreme physicality from Circa’s world-famous acrobats.
Circa Contemporary Circus is one of the world’s leading performance companies. Since 2004, Circa has toured the world – performing in more than 45 countries to nearly 2 million people. Circa is at the forefront of the new wave of contemporary Australian circus – pioneering how extreme physicality can create powerful and moving performances and continually pushing the boundaries of the art form, blurring the lines between movement, dance, theatre and circus.
Carnival of the Animals forms part of Carriageworks’ newly introduced Carriageworks Moves program, which features a season of circus, dance and physical theatre works from October, and its expanded family programming, which will include a presentation of Creature from Box of Birds / Stalker Theatre in December.
Carnival of the Animals will be at Carriageworks during the spring school holidays from 1-5 October, and tickets are on sale now.
