FKA twigs | MEDIA RELEASE 19 Mar 2019

Carriageworks will present a program of international and Australian music artists, with internationally acclaimed FKA twigs headlining in a one-night only performance on Sunday 9 June, as part of Vivid Sydney, the largest festival of light, music and ideas in the Southern Hemisphere. Co-presented with Fuzzy, CURVE BALL on Saturday 8 June will feature Hayden James with Mallrat, Set Mo, Touch Sensitive, Young Franco and Cassian, and RÜFÜS DU SOL will perform three exclusive live shows at Carriageworks on Thursday 13, Friday 14 June and Saturday 15 June.

Creating some of the most genre-bending work of her generation, FKA twigs is the sixth major international artist programmed by Carriageworks for Vivid Sydney, following St. Vincent, Goldfrapp, Bjork, Grace Jones and Pet Shop Boys.

Described by the Guardian UK as ‘the most adventurous popstar working today’, FKA twigs’ debut studio album LPI was nominated for a Mercury Prize and Brit Award. Alongside her music work, video has been a central part of twigs storytelling, directing the majority of her own music videos to tell deeply personal and exciting stories, and redefining how artists communicate on film. This concert will be her only Sydney performance.

Co-presented with Fuzzy, RÜFÜS DU SOL’s exclusive performances at Carriageworks will be their only Australian live shows. It follows a sold-out national tour in front of 70,000 fans, and much anticipated Coachella and Lollapalooza festival appearances. The ARIA winning Australian three-piece won the world over with two platinum-certified albums, ATLAS and Bloom, and their third album, Solace, cementing them as a one of the world’s preeminent live electronic acts. Now based in Los Angeles, RÜFÜS DU SOL have a distinctive sound that blends infectious song writing with delectable deep house grooves.

Curve Ball returns to Carriageworks for Vivid Sydney 2019 for the fourth year. Curated by Fuzzy Events, the team behind Field Day, Harbourlife and Listen Out, Curve Ball will feature a line-up of dance music and artists creating a large scale live show featuring immersive visuals and sound in Carriageworks spectacular industrial setting.
