CARRIAGEWORKS’ VIVID SYDNEY 2024 PROGRAM KICKS OFF THIS WEEK 27 May 2024

Sydney, Australia: Carriageworks’ ambitious multi-venue Vivid Sydney 2024 program, featuring a lineup of acclaimed international and local music acts and immersive dining experiences, kicks off this week and runs until 15 June.

Carriageworks’ Vivid Music lineup forms part of the precinct’s newly introduced Carriageworks Sounds program which will present an expanded array of live music in 2024.

Carriageworks CEO, Fergus Linehan, said: “Vivid Sydney at Carriageworks is set to be an unforgettable celebration of live music and culinary delights, bringing together a stellar lineup of international and local talent. Vivid Sydney also marks the first of many live music events at Carriageworks this year, as our Carriageworks Sounds seasons bring world-class artists to our precinct and we play our part in Sydney’s reestablishment as an internationally recognised centre of creativity and fun. We’re eagerly anticipating welcoming music lovers – and food enthusiasts – from near and far, and we look forward to seeing Carriageworks come alive with their energy.”

This year’s program also marks a return to Carriageworks’ 5000-person venue, Bay 22-24, for the first time since 2019, in an exciting move to bring more major music events to Sydney. Brisbane-born techno duo X CLUB. have been granted rare access to take over the space for a day-to-night warehouse party featuring a star-studded lineup of house and techno’s finest DJs. X CLUB. have enlisted underground techno leader SPFDJ (Sweden), globe-trotting DJ SHAMPAIN (Ireland) and fast-rising locals Crybaby (Naarm) and FUKHED (Meanjin) for a frenetic, unrelenting lineup of techno and drum & bass.

One of the most influential figures in hip hop, musician, actor and activist Yasiin Bey (fka Mos Def) joins Vivid Sydney at Carriageworks over two nights. On night one, he’ll pay tribute to the legendary MC MF DOOM, who tragically passed in 2020, and on night two he’ll celebrate the 15th anniversary of his critically acclaimed album “The Ecstatic”.

Australia’s Eurovision 2024 representatives, electronic dance duo Electric Fields return to Sydney with their high-octane dancefloor sound grounded in ancient melodies. West Australian psych rock band Pond will perform tracks from their new album “Stung!” live for the very first time, and Aboriginal Australian singer-songwriter Emma Donovan joins the program’s lineup of local talent to bring her hypnotising blend of reggae, gospel, soul and country to Carriageworks hot off the release of her album, “Til My Song Is Done.”

In two long-awaited Australian debuts, British singer-songwriter Tirzah will take to the stage for an evening of sonically rich sounds, while experimental American musician and alt-rock star Yves Tumor will perform an explosive, genre-bending set. American singer-songwriter Montell Fish will perform his blend of new age gospel and soul with electronic-infused soundscapes to a sold-out crowd.

Over two nights, Australia’s biggest orchestrated dance party, SYNTHONY, will see a 29-piece orchestra collide with the most iconic dance anthems spun by world-class DJs and sung by spine-tingling vocalists – all accompanied by a mesmerising laser light show.

For the first time, Carriageworks has partnered with social enterprise Plate It Forward to bring an exciting new food offering to the precinct. As part of the Vivid Food program, a pop-up Coyoacán Social cantina will take up residence at Carriageworks, serving up authentic Mexican street food with a purpose – for every taco bought, a meal will be donated via local community kitchens for people in need.

2023 Vivid Food program highlight The Warakirri Dining Experience is also returning to Carriageworks over two nights. Ngemba Weilwan chef Sharon Winsor hosts an intimate 5-course, First Nations dining experience during which she shares her in-depth knowledge of Aboriginal culture and food with guests, who also enjoy a traditional smoking ceremony alongside musical and cultural storytelling.
