Sydney, Australia: Carriageworks today announced details for the Summer Seasonal Market to be held on Saturday 9 December 2023 and the much-loved annual Christmas Market on Saturday 23 December 2023, celebrations of the finest local produce for summer and the holiday season.
Creative Director of Carriageworks Farmers Markets, Mike McEnearney, said: “We are delighted to be bringing back both the Summer Seasonal Market and Christmas Market this year, offering Sydneysiders the opportunity to source the freshest seasonal produce, festive treats, gifts and more, perfect for summer entertaining and of course Christmas day!”
SUMMER SEASONAL MARKET | Sat 9 Dec | 8am – 1pm
The Summer Seasonal Market marks the arrival of warmer weather and celebrates the best new seasonal produce through a program of talks, cooking demonstrations and hands-on workshops. Stock up on the freshest seasonal produce direct from New South Wales’ leading growers, including the first of the Summer stone fruits, such as cherries, nectarines and peaches, as well as fragrant basil, sweet heirloom tomatoes and new season garlic.
Visitors can place orders on festive staples such as Christmas ham, turkey (or vegan roast), oysters, smoked seafood, cheeses, drinks and sweet treats like gingerbread house kits, Christmas truffles, puddings, mince pies and more. Dural Christmas Tree Farm will also be returning to the market on 2, 9 and 16 December.
The Summer Seasonal Market’s curated program hosted by delicious Editor in Chief Krysia Bonkowsky, will feature a live cooking demonstration with Australian-Fijian artist Salote Tawale, Pasepa Morell and Bloodwood’s Head Chef and Co-Owner Claire Van Vuuren. The three friends will bring a fresh approach to classic Fijian recipes, sharing stories and anecdotes along the way. The demonstration coincides with Tawale’s new exhibition I remember you, currently on display in the Carriageworks Public Space and Bay 21. The program also includes a special talk with the team from the award-winning non-alcoholic spirit makers, Seadrift Distillery, who will be sharing how they craft their unique alcohol free spirits using fresh botanicals grown on farms throughout NSW, along with locally foraged sea kelp.
Tickets are now on sale for a kids workshop hosted by expert chocolate maker and pastry chef, Jessica Pedemont of Chocolate Artisan. This one-hour class will teach kids how to make and decorate their own gingerbread cookies and walk away with the skills to recreate these delicious festive treats at home.
