My Darling Patricia’s immersive retelling of The Pied Piper of Hamelin is a unique theatrical journey for an audience of children and adults. Inspired by former Poet Laureate Ted Hughes’s stories for children, the Piper is a bear – a dancer with a rebel soul – and the Mayor is a political leader with an identity crisis. Yet, there is an even more unusual twist: one part of the audience is invited onto the stage and into the story.
Fitted with wireless headphones, theirs is an intimate and participatory experience viewed by the seated audience. Brought to life by a combination of multimedia, puppetry and innovative stagecraft, The Piper sees My Darling Patricia focus their inspired storytelling on young audiences.
