A hard hitting new work by Kamarra Bell Wykes. Shrunken Iris was originally presented at Bless your Blak Arts Festival at Theatreworks by Ilbijerri Theatre, directed by Wesley Enoch in 2003.

20 years later, ready with a wealth of experience, Kamarra is returning to this work with new company A DAYLIGHT CONNECTION to reimagine the show as a site based work on a real railway platform. The original text remains the primary source with the interior and external voices of central character Lexi reinterpreted by older bodies still grappling with the same questions of addiction, making journeys and what it means to be a Blak woman faced with tough life choices in a hostile culture. This remixed version will feature a complex sound design and the unpredictable character of a working train station where people face their own complex conundrums. The development of this work is being supported by the First Nations team at Carriageworks with an ambition to present this work at Redfern station.

This project is part of the Carriageworks In Development Program.
