Lucy Guerin Inc First Nations
Resident 2024: Nathan Leslie

In 2024, Carriageworks is thrilled to host Nathan Leslie as the Lucy Guerin Inc First Nations Resident. Nathan, a proud descendant of the Gamilaroi, Mandandanji, Wiradjuri, Awabakal tribes and peoples, will receive dedicated studio time at Carriageworks in Sydney and LGI’s home in North Melbourne, WXYZ Studios, along with production support and a fee.

The First Nations Residency, established in 2021 through a partnership between BlakDance, Lucy Guerin Inc, and Carriageworks, aims to support Senior First Nations artists like Nathan at various stages of their careers. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to providing a platform for First Nations artists in contemporary dance and addressing historical inequalities in support. Carriageworks joined the partnership in 2022 to further strengthen the program and its reach.
