Carriageworks collaborates with the world’s leading artists to present large-scale works exclusively in Australia. We work with artists to create immersive installations that respond directly to the unique architecture of the Carriageworks building.

Since 2012, Carriageworks has commissioned and presented: Nikhil Chopra (India), Ann Veronica Janssens (UK/Belgium), Song Dong (China), Christian Boltanski (France), Tehching Hsieh (Taiwan), Zhang Huan (China), Xavier Le Roy (France), Nick Cave (US), El Anatsui (Ghana), Francesco Clemente (Italy), Katharina Grosse (Germany), Daniel Buren (France), and Ryoji Ikeda (Japan).

Carriageworks also collaborates with international institutions and festivals including Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Manchester International Festival, Gagosian and the Biennale of Sydney.

Anna Schwartz and Carriageworks have partnered to mount a series of major international visual arts projects between 2015-2020.
