Sydney, Australia: The Famous Spiegeltent is making its Carriageworks debut from 23 Nov – 15 Dec with two world premieres. The legendary funhouse of mirrors, mystique, magic and mayhem will transform the cool, industrial space of Carriageworks, inviting everyone to step inside and revel in a decadent world of endless possibilities.
From the 27 Nov – 15 Dec Australia’s favourite boylesque-circus-variety show superstars Briefs Factory International will take to the stage with their hottest show yet, CLUB BRIEFS: The Works. Known for jaw-dropping performances, sold-out venues and five-star reviews, the Briefs boys are bringing their potent mix of high-wire hedonism, lightning-fast comedy, and seriously sexy stunts to the ornate pleasure palace that is The Famous Spiegeltent.
The star-studded line-up includes the outrageous MC Fez Faanana, King of Burlesque Captain Kidd, gravity-defying Cyr wheel artist Rowan Thomas, acrobatic drag artist Nastia, pole virtuoso Benjamin Butterfly, and aerialist extraordinaire Thomas Worrell. Expect gutsy burlesque, daring circus acts, flamboyant drag, and cutting-edge performances set to an electrifying dance-party soundtrack.
A raunchy, risqué celebration of queer talent and bold showmanship, CLUB BRIEFS: The Works will raise the stakes with a new superstar guest each week. Week 1 opens with the high-voltage dance energy and cheeky charm of Rhys Lightning. Week 2 spotlights the daring, seductive act of former Miss Burlesque Australia Diesel Darling aka “Danger Barbie”, before the one and only Betty Grumble’s wild, irreverent mix of comedy and performance art makes for an unforgettable finale.
The Famous Spiegteltent at Carriageworks will also open its doors to audiences of all ages to experience the thrilling young talents of Australia’s world-renowned Flying Fruit Fly Circus, who will take flight in the Spiegeltent for the very first time with their new show Live and Famous from 23 Nov – 1 Dec.
Live and Famous is a magical cabaret concoction full of tricks, flips and fun for all the family, who will be mesmerised and dazzled by the aerial acts and daredevil acrobatics in the intimate setting of the world’s most beautiful Spiegeltent.
Famed for the joy and energy they bring to stages around the world, ‘The Fruities’, as Australia’s National Youth Circus performers are affectionately known, have tumbled their way into the hearts of millions of people over the years.
These world premieres form part of the Carriageworks Summer program, a massive lineup of circus, live music, dance, food, markets, drag, cabaret, free events and so much more running from November to January.
