Beyond The Walls
Join us at Carriageworks on 14 August for Beyond The Walls, a community event showcasing the transformative work of Phunktional’s innovative program supporting young people connected with the Youth Justice System.
Led by professional First Nations dancers, performers, and producers, the program aims to change lives and reduce recidivism, providing incarcerated young people with opportunities to positively contribute to their community. The evening celebrates their achievements and announces Phunktional’s ambitious future plans.
Experience the NITV launch of dance films created inside the Frank Baxter Youth Justice Centre, a documentary on artist Glen Thomas, and the Noel Tovey Emerging Artist Awards. The event begins with a Call to Country by Akala Newman and a Smoking Ceremony by Aunty Calita, followed by performances from the Brolga Dance Academy, Stiff Gins, Barayagal Choir, NAISDA Students, and Philly AKA Philip Murray.
