Carriageworks has announced three exciting new participants in the NIGHT MARKET, presented on Saturday 28 January in association with the 2017 Sydney Chinese New Year Festival and Sydney Festival. The NIGHT MARKET, curated by award-winning chef Kylie Kwong, will feature large-scale film screenings of SBS VICELAND’s Huang’s World, projected concurrently onto three walls of the markets. In addition, Greenfeet will offer free massages on the evening and cult Japanese bookstore Kinokuniya will feature a specially curated selection of cookbooks at the market.
These just-announced additions to the NIGHT MARKET inject another level of excitement into the one-night-only event, with the popular TV channel SBS VICELAND set to project three separate screens of the Huang’s World documentary onto the walls of the market, revealing to visitors the story of one man’s exploration of his heritage and Asian culture. Japanese bookstore giant Kinokuniya will offer for sale a specially curated selection of cookbooks for sale, by chefs cooking at the market on the night including Kylie Kwong, Neil Perry and Mike McEnearney, as well as Adam Liaw, Sharon Salloum and Sujet Saenkham.
Greenfeet Massage will offer a moment of rest for visitors through ten-minute seated remedial relief massages for a gold coin donation, with all proceeds going to The Wayside Company.
Welcoming the year of the Rooster on Saturday 28 January from 5pm – 10pm, the NIGHT MARKET offers a melting pot of contemporary Asian food, pop culture and sounds featuring more than 50 of Australia’s leading chefs, restaurateurs and providores, a live performance by DJ Tyson Koh and speciality dishes created exclusively for Carriageworks.
