CARRIAGEWORKS, DANCEHOUSE AND THE KEIR FOUNDATION PRESENT
KEIR CHOREOGRAPHIC AWARD 2018
The Keir Choreographic Award is a national biennial award dedicated to commissioning short works and promoting innovative, experimental and cross-artform practices in contemporary dance.
The award invites Australian professional artists with an established practice to propose a choreographic idea for an original live performance of no more than 20 minutes.
The selected artists are Amrita Hepi, Melanie Lane, Bhenji Ra, Nana Biluš Abaffy, Luke George, Lillian Steiner, Prue Lang and Branch Nebula (Lee Wilson and Mirabelle Wouters).
Finals Season
The eight commissioned artists will present their new work at Melbourne’s Dancehouse 6–10 March 2018, with four works then selected to participate in the Sydney season at Carriageworks 15–17 March 2018.
2018 Keir Choreographic Award Jury
Head of Dance, Performing Arts of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, Hong Kong, Anna CY Chan; local dance icon Lucy Guerin; Ishmael Houston-Jones, US choreographer, author, performer, and curator; Hungarian choreographer, dancer and performer Eszter Salamon; Artistic Director of international arts festival Kunstenfestivaldesarts, Brussels, Christophe Slagmuylder; and acclaimed Brussels-based American choreographer and dancer Meg Stuart.

The Keir Choreographic Award (KCA) Public Program accompanies the KCA Finals Season to offer a diverse program of performances, workshops, seminars, panels and masterclasses.
