CARRIAGEWORKS’ AUTUMN SEASONAL MARKET RETURNS – CELEBRATING WOMEN IN FOOD ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 20 Feb 2025
Sydney, Australia: Carriageworks’ Autumn Seasonal Market returns on Saturday 8 March 2025, bringing together the best in fresh, local, and sustainable produce. This year, the market coincides with International Women’s Day and will be celebrating the incredible women farmers, bakers, and makers who grow, raise, and create the food we eat and enjoy.
The day will shine a spotlight on the women of the market, highlighting their contributions to the food industry – especially in areas which have traditionally been male-dominated. Market-goers will have the chance to hear from some of the leading women in food, enjoy live cooking demonstrations, and explore a showcase of premium seasonal goods from NSW’s top growers and artisans.
With more than 60 stallholders, the Autumn Seasonal Market will feature an incredible array of produce, artisan baked goods, handmade preserves, cheeses, sustainable meats, and more, all sourced from local farmers and producers. Stock up on the freshest seasonal produce, from quintessential Autumn fruits like pears, persimmons and pomegranates to hearty vegetables like rhubarb, artichokes, pumpkins and squash, as well as a huge range of the best quality meats, cheeses, dips, baked goods, speciality drinks and seasonal blooms.
As part of the free live program, the Farmer, Baker, Maker panel discussion hosted by Corinne Parkes from delicious. will feature three incredible women from the Carriageworks Farmers Market, sharing their experiences as leaders in food production and farming. Ethical meat producer Elizabeth Ferrone from the regenerative agriculture farm Hillside Food Forest, the eponymous Merna Taouk of Crumpets by Merna, and Genevieve Muir from Coast of Gold, which creates premium foods and condiments centred on authentic West African flavours, will come together for an inspiring conversation on innovation and the future of women in food.
The Country Women’s Association (CWA), Australia’s largest women’s organisation, will also be sharing their timeless wisdom and culinary expertise as part of the live program. President of the CWA’s Sydney City Branch, Alicia Kell, will discuss the organisation’s mission to empower women alongside fellow members, while demonstrating the art of making the CWA’s famous scones, served with a special seasonal jam and cream.
Join us on Saturday 8 March 2025 from 8am – 1pm for a market day that champions women in food, highlights the richness of autumn’s harvest, and brings the community together.
