The Cage Project

Imagine a grand piano, exploded, spinning in a ballet of fragments.

Percussionist Matthias Schack-Arnott collaborates with pianist Cédric Tiberghien to reimagine John Cage’s Sonatas and Interludes (1948). Schack-Arnott’s kinetic sound sculpture hovers above the prepared piano, moving in sync with Tiberghien’s performance, creating a mesmerising spectacle that blends sight and sound.

Premiered at the 2023 Adelaide and Perth Festivals, The Cage Project transforms Cage’s pioneering work into a sculptural, theatrical world that’s both captivating and meditative.
