INCITE Intensive

This one-week professional development program offers an invaluable deep-dive into personal practice, multidisciplinary collaboration and how to harness dramaturgy in movement-based devising.

Led by Artistic Director Danielle Micich, and designed for mid-career and established artists, the small group intensive will focus on three key components in the process of devising dance theatre: physical practice, movement generation and creation.

INCITE Intensive is open to professional actors, movers, dancers, performers and makers with demonstrated industry experience and an existing practice. Experienced directors, writers, musicians and other creatives seeking a deeper understanding of devising and the artform of movement-based storytelling are also encouraged to apply.

Physical Practice
Physical practice will incorporate simple and effective exercises that demonstrate how to work with the breath and the moving body. The training improves performer focus, body awareness and prepares the performer for the ‘ready body’; a concept created by Danielle Micich.

Movement Generation
Structured improvisation sessions will explore everything from how to talk about movement, to how to generate movement with text and the dramaturgy around this. Participants will delve into the very intention and purpose of movement with narrative, improvising through partner and ensemble work and collaborating as a collective multi-disciplinary company.

Creation
Over the course of the intensive, each participant will become part of a company structure. Danielle Micich will demonstrate how to work collaboratively on the creation of new ideas using shared language and how to make constructive decisions in the creative process of devising new work.
