Inaugural Event Will Mix Fashion and Skateboarding, Featuring First-Ever Fashion Show By Faith Connexion, Replica Of World Famous Hubba Hideout and Premiere of New Slim Aarons Documentary

SYDNEY (October 7, 2016) – MADE today announced the inaugural season of MADE Sydney, continuing the platform’s expansion beyond New York City with support from WME | IMG. Taking place November 11-13, 2016 at Carriageworks in Sydney, MADE Sydney will connect fashion to sports, drawing inspiration from Sydney’s unique creative culture. Faith Connexion will debut its first-ever fashion show and co-design a replica of famed skateboard spot Hubba Hideout. The event will also feature a retail component called The Stores, making the collections and products of numerous brands readily available for consumers.

“As we continue to grow and evolve the MADE brand, we are seeking markets with strong local support from both the industry and its consumers,” said Catherine Bennett, SVP and Managing Director, IMG Fashion Events & Properties. “Sydney has been a great home for us over the years, and we’re excited to introduce an entirely new offering for individuals interested in fashion, music and art.”

MADE Sydney will kick-off with the world premiere of The High Life: Slim Aarons, a new documentary about the life and work of photographer Slim Aarons. One of fashion’s most beloved photographers, Aarons has famously described his style as “photographing attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places.” The documentary is the newest production from M2M Films and will be released globally on M2M later this year. The Sydney premiere will take place on November 11, then screen throughout the weekend for MADE Sydney ticket holders.

“Sydney is a place where fashion and sports intertwine,” adds Barnett Zitron, VP and Managing Director, MADE. “At MADE Sydney presented by Mercedes-Benz, we’re building a physical manifestation of the fashion industry’s love affair with skate and street culture.”

During MADE Sydney, MADE and Faith Connexion will recreate a replica of Hubba Hideout, the iconic, recently demolished San Francisco-based skateboarding mecca that was the proving ground for skaters in the 90s and early 2000s. This replica will serve as the runway for the Faith Connexion show on November 12 before it opens up that day with skate hours to the public. It will also serve as the focal point of Sydney’s first-ever Style + Skate amateur competition on November 13. Pro-skater and friend of MADE Corbin Harris will serve as an official ambassador for the event and judge the competition.

Presenting partner Mercedes-Benz will create various exciting activations for event guests, including Australia’s first Benz Bar hospitality pop up.

“MADE Sydney presented by Mercedes-Benz further cements our leadership role in supporting and driving the evolution and innovation of the fashion industry as well as its broader cultural movement in Australia,” said Horst von Sanden, CEO and Managing Director, Mercedes-Benz Cars Australia/Pacific.

Presenting partner Mercedes-Benz is joined by DHL, St. George Bank, Redken 5th Avenue N.Y.C, oOh! Media, Val Morgan and Carriageworks.

Tickets available via Carriageworks. For more information, visit and follow @MADE #MADESYDNEY.
