The Royal Samoa Police Band play a form of Viennese brass band music. Each morning, the band marches from the Police Headquarters to Government House through central Apia. Once there, they play their national anthem and raise the Samoan flag. From this daily routine, Michel Tuffery has collaborated with the Band to create a large-scale live performance work that explores the German colonial administration of Samoa in the early part of the 20th century and its ongoing impact in contemporary Samoa. Siamani Samoa includes an exhibition of new work by Michel Tuffery that has been developed to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the end of the German rule of Samoa. Presented by Carriageworks.
