CARRIAGEWORKS MASTERCLASS SERIES
Each year Marrugeku masterclasses, led by either Marrugeku’s co-artistic directors or the company’s guest choreographers, share the core cultural and choreographic processes which underpin Marrugeku’s approach to contemporary dance theatre. Masterclasses are open to dancers of all backgrounds, physical theatre performers and actors interested in improvisational movement processes to generate theatre.
The 2017 masterclass will be led by guest choreographer Koen Augustijnen.
Koen Augustijnen was a member of Les Ballets C de la B, Belgium since 1991, initially as a dancer in performances by Alain Platel and from 1997 till 2013 as one of the company’s house choreographers. Since 2013 Koen has worked as a freelance choreographer throughout Europe, in Palestine, and with Marrugeku in Australia. Koen directed and co-choreographed Gudirr Gudirr for Dalisia Pigram and will direct and co-choreograph the forthcoming solo Yarranmali Ngurrampaananhi for Eric Avery.
