Composed by new music pioneer Jon Rose, Ghan Tracks sits somewhere between a musical performance, an installation, live radio, and a spectacular multi-media event. Inspired by the iconic rail trip of the same name, it is above all a meditation on the notion of progress that underscores the Australian story: with all its assumptions, optimism, and failures.
Featuring original film footage of The Afghan Express (the rail line stretching from Adelaide to Darwin), Ghan Tracks is performed by members from two of Australia’s top new music ensembles – Ensemble Offspring and Speak Percussion. Presented by Carriageworks and Performance Space.
