Carriageworks, in partnership with Carriageworks Resident Arts Companies provides a series of masterclasses focused on skills development for Australian professional artists across the year. Workshops include performance skills, choreographic practice, devising and interactive technology. Masterclasses are designed by Resident Arts Companies and are focused on their discipline area.


FORCE MAJEURE
DANCE THEATRE MASTERCLASS

2, 3 JUN 2018 (Masterclass 2)

Artistic Director Danielle Micich provides an introduction to the devising process, focusing on how to generate movement and text both as a director and performer. This is a unique opportunity for artists interested in learning how to create dance theatre. Open to artists from all performance backgrounds.

FORCE MAJEURE
INCITE

5 – 26 NOV 2018

INCITE is Force Majeure’s professional dance theatre intensive for mid-career and established artists. It is a two week-long, full time program offering invaluable training in the company’s devising process. Led by Force Majeure’s Artistic Director, Danielle Micich, the INCITE program will continue in November 2018 and will again include additional mentorship by international guest artist Ellen Lauren, renowned Co-Artistic Director of New York’s influential SITI Company.

MARRUGEKU

Artistic Directors Dalisa Pigram and Rachael Swain share the core cultural and choreographic processes which underpin Marrugeku’s approach to intercultural contemporary dance theatre. Masterclasses are open to dancers of all backgrounds, physical theatre performers and actors interested in improvisational movement processes to generate theatre.

COMPOSING WOMEN

Sydney Conservatorium’s Composing Women Program is a professional development opportunity aimed at empowering women in composition. In this masterclass, composition students will have the opportunity to develop short operas mentored by Sydney Chamber Opera artists including Australian composer Liza Lim, Sydney Theatre Company resident director Imara Savage, and directing students from NIDA. This masterclass process will be the first step in the development of a new work by Sydney Chamber Opera.
