Sydney, Australia: Carriageworks and Vivid Sydney today announced THE NIGHT MARKET, Sydney’s first large-scale immersive contemporary food and wine event, featuring some of the industry’s most respected names cooking live over flames and celebrating regional New South Wales produce, over two special winter evenings on 4 and 18 June 2016.

Curated by renowned Sydney chef and Creative Director of the Carriageworks Farmers Market, Mike McEnearney, the line up of the inaugural presentation of THE NIGHT MARKET features 50 stallholders representing New South Wales’ leading restaurants and providores including Archie Rose, Billy Kwong, Cake Wines, Cornersmith, Efendy, Icebergs, Pepe Saya, Porteno, Single Origin Roasters, Thievery and Young Henrys.

Inspired by the theme of ‘Cooking with Fire’, THE NIGHT MARKET invite visitors to engage with and learn from leading chefs as they cook live with flames, transforming exclusively New South Wales regional produce into inspired, bespoke food offerings.

Lisa Havilah, Director of Carriageworks said: “Carriageworks has developed an exciting food and art program for Vivid Sydney including THE NIGHT MARKET and our sold out SYDNEY TABLE series that showcases the best of the State’s food and wine and offers people the chance to learn from and dine with our most talented chefs.”

Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer and Executive Producer of Vivid Sydney Sandra Chipchase said: “NSW is known for its quality produce, talented winemakers and some of Australia’s best restaurants. Our State is a haven for food lovers and we are delighted to be providing visitors with a taste of what’s on offer at Carriageworks during Vivid Sydney this year.”

More than 50 NSW producers will be showcased at THE NIGHT MARKET, including providores and winemakers from across the 14 wine regions of NSW from the Hunter Valley to the Canberra Region in the south, as well as beer and spirit makers. Each stallholder will profile the regional source of the produce they are using.

Carriageworks is also presenting a series of bespoke dining experiences for SYDNEY TABLE during Vivid Sydney. The sold out series partnered leading chefs with creative identities to develop a truly unique evening of food, wine and art. Each of the dinners for SYDNEY TABLE will also hero local New South Wales produce.

The launch of THE NIGHT MARKET follows the recent success of the Carriageworks Christmas Twilight Market, held on 23 December 2015 that attracted over 8,000 visitors.  Carriageworks also presents the weekly Carriageworks Farmers Market, recognised as one of Australia’s leading Artisan farmers markets, that attracts over 5,000 people every Saturday and support over 120 NSW producers. These markets will continue to run every Saturday morning throughout Vivid Sydney.

Entry to THE NIGHT MARKET is free of charge.
